To create a CGI stop frame animation TV ad for The Balvenie, to replicate the paper cut style of their packaging.
The challenge was to capture the intricate story behind the blending of this exceptional whiskey, distlling it into a compelling 25 second narrative for a TV audience.
We follow a journey that begins with the master blender’s careful hand, guiding viewers through each carefully selected ingredient and scent, culminating in a final scene showing the rich flavour notes of the whiskey.
To bring this vision to life, we delved into the world of papercraft, replicating in meticulous detail the look and feel of real paper and card. We scanned a variety of textures and carefully layered them within the materials to enhance the authenticity of the 3D objects within every scene. Each element was designed to be as tactile as possible, creating an experience that is not only visually captivating, but also echoes the depth and quality of the whiskey itself.
Modelling and CGI animation of all scenes was created in Cinema 4D, with rendering handled in Redshift via our onsite renderfarm.
